In just a few years, MaxFoo's work has attracted more than 10 million views online, earned multiple CineFestOZ awards for Best Animated Short Film, and helped establish a new generation of Western Australian animators creating work outside traditional studio systems. The team was the first from WA to secure full funding for an animated production and the first Western Australian animation studio selected to attend the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Market as part of the Ausfilm International Animation Delegation.

Recent projects include Suzie Q, a Screen Australia-supported animated comedy following an arts student dolphin chasing a creative career against all sensible advice, and Student Council, a satirical high-school comedy that turns playground politics into a struggle for power. The studio has also contributed animation to Grouse House's Hug the Sun while continuing to develop a slate of original series, shorts and experimental projects.

Dung Nguyen
Dung Nguyen is a writer, director and animator, and the creative force behind MaxFoo.

His work blends emotionally driven storytelling with absurd, offbeat comedy, creating animated projects that balance genuine heart with chaotic humour. With a strong instinct for visual storytelling and character performance, Dung focuses on building stories that connect emotionally while remaining visually bold and distinctly original.
At MaxFoo, Dung directs and develops creator-led animated projects including Larry the Lightbulb and Suzie Q, helping shape the studio’s visual identity and storytelling voice. His independent animation work has contributed to millions of online views and includes collaborations with studios such as Grouse House on Hug the Sun.
Dung is passionate about pushing the boundaries of independent Australian animation and bringing original new voices to global audiences.

Max Joyce is a multidisciplinary designer and animator working across both 2D and 3D animation pipelines.
Combining strong technical ability with a sharp eye for visual storytelling, Max specialises in building distinct visual languages for character-driven worlds. His work balances stylisation with clarity, creating visuals designed to engage modern online audiences while supporting strong story and tone.
At MaxFoo, Max plays a key role across visual development, design and animation production on original creator-led projects including Suzie Q. He is particularly interested in developing visually bold work that can thrive across fast-moving digital platforms without losing emotional authenticity or artistic identity.
His work as part of MaxFoo’s growing slate has contributed to projects, like writing and animation on the short film ‘Don’t Talk About the Monster on the Roof’, that have generated millions of online views, earned multiple CineFestOZ awards for Best Animated Short Film, and included collaborations with Grouse House on Hug the Sun.
michael long
Michael Long is a producer and creative working across animation, digital series and film.
Beginning his career in VFX and motion design, Michael developed a strong technical understanding of animation production before transitioning into producing original IP. His work focuses on building creator-led projects for digital-first audiences, combining practical production knowledge with a strong instinct for story and audience engagement.

Michael is the lead producer at MaxFoo, where he oversees development and production across the studio’s growing slate. His recent credits include Suzie Q and Student Council, both supported by Screen Australia, as well as the animated feature project Christmas Johnson, currently in early development.
He is passionate about helping grow sustainable pathways for emerging West Australian animation and developing local stories with global audience potential.

Winston Foo is a character animator and artist specialising in expressive, performance-driven animation.
With a strong foundation in fine art and 2D animation, Winston focuses on character acting, dynamic posing and comedic timing, bringing personality and emotional clarity into every scene. His approach centres on creating characters that feel genuinely alive, balancing exaggerated comedy with grounded performance to strengthen both story and audience connection.
At MaxFoo, Winston contributes across animation and visual development on the studio’s growing slate of creator-led projects, including Suzie Q. His work forms part of a broader push toward original Australian animation built for digital-first audiences.
